Our Nursing team member’s primary goal is to provide the most remarkable patient experience while providing professional care to patients and families. The Safety Attendant provides close, continuous, constant observation of selected patients for the purpose of identifying behaviors which are potentially hazardous to self or others in accordance with facility policies and procedures and reports needs and concerns to licensed nurse. Performs all work with accordance to the mission, visions, and values of Ashe Memorial Hospital (AMH).

Requirements

  • Previous hospital experience, preferred.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
  • Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen required upon conditional job offer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide close, continuous, constant observation of assigned patients.
  • Cleans equipment according to policy and returns it to appropriate area.
  • Completes all required paperwork according to departmental guidelines.
  • Identifies patient care needs and appropriately notifies nurse.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
  • Transports patients, using wheelchairs; Assists with ambulation.
  • Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  • Interacts professionally and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the nursing department and throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward patient care assignments.
  • Seeks guidance from RN in uncertain situations.
  • Functions as an effective team member.
  • Checks patient identification prior to providing care.
  • Completes annual employment requirements such as annual employee health and AMH Healthy and Safety Inservice commonly referred to as ADI.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements and CPR certification.
  • Adheres to the attendance policy.
  • Utilizes Kronos system correctly to accurately record working hours.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and inservices.
  • Adheres to the Studer AIDET customer services principles: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You
