About The Position

The Patient Representative Van Driver (PRVD) acts as a greeter to patients entering Zufall Health Center sites including the medical and dental vans. The PRVD will answer the telephone, complete registration, and conduct intake as needed. The PRVD is responsible for driving the van to assigned sites, for the safety of the van, doing checks before and after van use, and managing regular maintenance of the van. Most importantly, the PRVD supports the mission and vision of the Zufall Health Center.

Requirements

  • Possesses a CDL license to be able to operate large mobile vans that have air brakes.
  • Has knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, and electronic medical records.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Possesses good organizational skills

  • Ability to adapt and learn in rapidly changing environment of healthcare
  • Be able to understand, carry out, and remember verbal and written instructions.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required.
  • High School diploma required; college credit or additional education in medical field or insurance and billing courses preferred
  • Possess a current, unrestricted New Jersey CDL operator license issued by the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles and pass an annual background driving record check.
  • Have minimum of 6 months experience operating a large van that uses air brakes.
  • Have minimum of 1 year experience in customer service field, and 1 year of experience in collecting money or billing and insurances.

  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner in person and on the telephone.
  • Answers the telephone and makes appointments or responds to inquiries.
  • Ensures that the patient brings all supporting documentation to visit.
  • Reminds patient of appointment time, documentation needed, immunization records for new patient pediatric appointments, and schedules and re-schedules appointments.
  • Explains processes and forms to patients as needed.
  • Conducts eligibility checks on insurances.
  • Collects payments from patients, enters the payment in eCW and prints receipts for patient.
  • Communicates with the medical staff regarding patient’s visits.
  • Assists with printing out requisitions or other forms as needed.
  • Manage the vans in regards to maintaining cleanliness and organization on the van at all times.
  • Manage the cash collection and ensure accurate records of petty cash use.
  • Turn in collections daily to main site.
  • Assist patients on and off the van.
  • Maintain the water and gas needs of the van and evaluate daily.
  • Ensure the van is plugged in at the end of the day and will be charged appropriately as needed.
  • Ensure a quiet, professional atmosphere on the van as it is an official site of Zufall. Although approved children’s movies can be played for entertainment of children on the van, no other music or movies are allowed.
  • Ensure that all occupants travel safely wearing seat belts and all equipment and supplies are stored safely.
  • Order office supplies as needed.
  • Communicate in advance with the clinical staff that will be assigned on the van.
  • Ensure in advance that the address for the event is clear and correct.
  • Maintain a maintenance record and inform the Director of Operations when the van needs repairs or maintenance.
  • Maintains patients’ confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as stated in the ZHC policies and procedures manual.
  • Answers inquiries of patients and public in person or via telephone regarding regulations and services; when necessary, refers inquiries to appropriate person or department.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, understands, and communicates in English and Spanish sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
