About The Position

The Patient Representative is a part-time role focused on providing administrative support in a healthcare setting. This position involves registering patients, verifying insurance information, and ensuring accurate data entry while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a busy environment, with a schedule that includes evening shifts and Saturday rotations.

Requirements

  • Experience in an administrative healthcare position preferred.
  • Good computer skills, proficient keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Working knowledge of insurance and billing functions is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a busy work environment.
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as copy machines, scanners, fax machines, and multiline telephones.
  • Working knowledge of RIS/PACS system is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, their family members, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients by collecting and verifying demographic information, insurance data, and referring physician information.
  • Achieve accurate and complete data entry for each patient.
  • Check insurance eligibility and calculate deductibles and coinsurances.
  • Collect and post co-pays, coinsurances, and balances.
  • Perform daily data entry and maintain accurate journal sheets of all payments posted.
  • Schedule appointments and explain studies, procedures, and preps to patients.
  • Answer telephone calls, fax reports, and request and release images.
  • Contact referring physician offices as needed and maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform all duties according to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance, with mandatory overtime as needed.
