About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented individual to join our Ortho Clinical Administration team as a Patient Representative. This role is vital in patient scheduling, financial counseling, and revenue cycle management, operating under general supervision. Key responsibilities include advising patients on their financial obligations, connecting them with sponsoring agencies, and ensuring adherence to financial policies. The Patient Representative will manage high-risk pre-certifications, develop strategies to prevent denials, and generate reports to maintain financial accuracy. This position contributes to improving the clinic's operational efficiency and enhances patient satisfaction. The role will support UAMS Ortho Clinic locations in Northwest Arkansas, including Fayetteville, Lowell, and Bentonville.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, insurance, or scheduling.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write.
  • Computer/basic keyboard skills and telephone etiquette skills.
  • General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Understanding of financial counseling and revenue cycle management.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field.
  • Associates Degree plus two (2) years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, medical office registration, billing, or scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Meet, greet, and assist the public, answering telephones in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate appointments using hospital systems.
  • Conduct insurance verification and benefit explanation.
  • Collect and post payments and issue receipts.
  • Counsel patients on financial information and payment expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Participate in professional development and training.
