The Patient Representative at the Mount Sinai Health System serves as a liaison to strengthen the relationship between the Medical Center and patients and their families. This role involves resolving problems, counseling in potential AMA cases, and managing crisis situations. The representative is responsible for receiving and responding to referrals from patients, families, professionals, and administrative staff, as well as addressing crisis situations and patient reactions. They explain risks and benefits to patients, ensuring that all necessary precautions and alternatives are discussed, and advise patients and families of their rights and responsibilities. The representative assists in cases where patients threaten to leave the hospital against medical advice and responds to patient problems and concerns to promote satisfaction with services. They investigate complaints, document issues and resolutions, and participate in educational programs related to patient rights and care perception. Additionally, they provide Notary Public services to patients and perform other duties as required.
