About The Position

The Patient Registration Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive patient experience during the registration process at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. This temporary position requires excellent customer service skills and involves collecting patient information, verifying insurance eligibility, and determining financial liabilities.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, or other revenue cycle related roles (2 years preferred).
• Knowledge of charity care programs and various government and non-government programs (preferred).
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate patient identification during the registration process.
• Collect accurate and thorough patient demographic data.
• Obtain insurance information and verify eligibility and benefits.
• Determine and collect patient financial liability.
• Refer patients to the Patient Registration Specialist for assistance with financial counseling and/or clearance.
