About The Position

The Patient Registration Representative at St. John's Hospital Camarillo plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive patient experience by accurately registering patients for medical services. This position requires attention to detail and compassion, as the representative will interact with patients and gather essential information for their care.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
• Applicable education and/or training can be used to balance a lack of experience.
• 2 years of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles preferred.
• Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and non-government programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and provide excellent customer service.
• Accurately and efficiently register patients for medical services, including verifying patient information and insurance coverage.
• Obtain necessary information such as medical history, medications, allergies, and other related information from patients and ensure that all information is entered correctly into the electronic health record.
• Assist patients in filling out necessary paperwork.
• Collect copays and outstanding balances at the time of service and provide patients with receipts.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate care.
