About The Position

The position involves gathering patient demographic and financial information and entering it into the computer system. The role includes assigning patient rooms, preparing appropriate documentation, and transporting or escorting patients to their assigned areas. The individual will also be responsible for informing patients of hospital regulations, securing armbands, and obtaining signatures on necessary documents. Additionally, the position requires making determinations regarding the need for hospital-issued Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN waivers) and ensuring patients are escorted to their assigned areas. The role includes meeting and greeting patients as the registration process begins and scanning all necessary information such as physician orders, driver's licenses, insurance cards, and consents. Pre-registration of all scheduled tests is also part of the job, along with adhering to safety, infection control, and colleague health policies and procedures, as well as following HIPAA and EMTALA regulations as per hospital policy.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
  • Completion of Medical Secretary program or other general office training preferred.
  • One year of medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration) preferred.
  • Hospital experience and/or medical terminology preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Windows experience and database software.
  • Ability to convey a positive image and communicate tactfully and professionally.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and under pressure.

Responsibilities
