About The Position

The ER Clerk / Patient Registration Representative is responsible for accurately registering patients in the Emergency Department while delivering excellent customer service in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment. This role ensures complete demographic, insurance, and consent information is obtained to support timely care, billing accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Push computers on wheels and on your feet in the ER.
Someone that can maneuver the computer and be on their feet for long periods of times.

Responsibilities

Greet and register emergency room patients promptly and professionally, verifying demographic, insurance, and guarantor information.
Obtain required signatures, consents, and HIPAA documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Perform real‑time insurance verification, eligibility checks, and authorization screening when applicable.
Accurately enter patient information into the hospital information system/EHR, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
Collect copayments, deductibles, and deposits when appropriate and provide payment receipts.
Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient status, registration completion, and documentation needs.
Handle high patient volumes, trauma activations, and sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
Respond to patient and family inquiries regarding registration, insurance, and billing processes.
Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures.
Assist with scanning, indexing documents, and maintaining organized registration records.
