The Patient Registrar is the initial point of contact for patients and families, embodying Shriner's customer service values by handling intake, scheduling, and coordinating patient care. This role also involves supporting additional care coordination across various departments to ensure comprehensive wraparound care for each patient. Maintaining confidentiality of patient records is a constant requirement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum two (2) years clerical experince
  • Experience using MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology and local community resources
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment (phone, computer, copy machine, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette to interact with fellow staff members, patients, families, agencies and visitors. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm patient insurance verification and eligibility
  • Monitor patient appointments and information
  • Maintain patient rights by educating patients
  • Responding to patient and patient family complaints
  • Assemble patient medical record forms and prepare patient identification
  • Maintain patient flow and update waiting patients
  • Cancel appointments for patients and documents accordingly in patient electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Obtain patient information from both new and established patients
