About The Position

The Patient Registrar supports the mission of providing quality healthcare to the patients of Fairfield Healthcare Professionals by being a professional and personable first point of contact for all patients. This position is a vital member of the patient care team and is responsible for the efficient and orderly registration of patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, advanced education preferred.
  • One (1) year of previous medical office experience preferred with prior experience using an electronic health record.
  • Professional interpersonal skills, excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues while handling multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be highly organized and multi-task at various work stations and settings, as well as demonstrate an attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of medical terminology as applicable to the position.
  • Candidates must possess excellent computer and typing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying Patients Identification, Demographic Information, and Insurance Information.
  • Accurate Computer Data Entry.
  • Scanning of patient documents (Insurance Cards, Photo I.D., Advance Directive Documents, Legal Documents, etc.)
  • Working with various systems, including: The Patient Registration System, Electronic Medical Records, and Data Pay.
  • Ensure, organize, and maintain an active, accurate, and operational surgery schedule by coordinating all surgeries and procedures for assigned providers and service lines.
  • Coordinate surgical procedures with surgery center, endoscopy, and operating room.
  • Schedule and coordinate pre-operative testing, communicate surgery orders, and collect necessary documentation for surgeries.
  • Work closely with patients, physicians, staff, and procedural/surgical teams to provide accurate, timely, and responsive scheduling.
  • Provide administrative support. Solve routine and complex customer problems, directs customers to address specific questions.
  • Independent judgment is necessary to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Communicate regularly with clinical staff and staff within the product/service line to ensure customer and department staff needs are met including, but not limited to, maximizing the department time and utilization.
  • Must be able to prioritize and appropriately respond to various scenarios based on level of urgency.
  • Identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Knowledge of insurance authorizations/referrals and have a good command of medical terminology.
  • Interact with patients, patients' families, referring physicians and third-party carriers with regard to patient-related issues.
  • Obtain pre-authorization and pre-determinations for products and services, as needed. Monitor statuses closely.
  • Maintain decorum and professionalism at all times.
  • Manage medical records and patient information within HIPPA guidelines.
  • Multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be detail oriented.
