This position promotes a safe, supportive, and recovery-oriented environment by sharing lived recovery experience appropriately, encouraging patient engagement, and fostering hope. The PRC-I assists patients in overcoming barriers, building recovery skills, and connecting with community and natural supports to support long-term recovery and overall wellness. maintaining recovery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Peer Supporter (CPS) in the state of Ohio
  • Personal Attestation of one year of continuous recovery from substance use disorder and/or mental health disorder.
  • Basic computer skills including general knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Teams, and Word).
  • Valid driver’s license in state of employment.
  • CPR/MANDT certification – training provided locally and updated as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% as needed during work hours

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral science disciplines from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient engagement by modeling recovery-oriented behaviors, encouraging participation in treatment and community activities, and guiding individuals with empathy, respect and professionalism.
  • Share lived experience in recovery appropriately to inspire hope, build authentic peer-to-peer relationships, and promote positive change.
  • Facilitate patient orientation, recovery support groups, and peer-led activities that promote life skill development, wellness management, and relapse prevention.
  • Provide education and coaching on self-advocacy, managing negative self-talk, developing social skills and building natural support.
  • Perform regular walking safety rounds throughout the home to monitor patient location, safety, and well-being, documenting observations in the EHR as scheduled per policy requirements and promptly reporting and documenting any incidents, unusual behaviors, or safety concerns.
  • Assist with the development of weekly meal plans and grocery orders in alignment with established guidelines and budgets, using the process to teach and reinforce independent living skills through hands-on practice.
  • Assist with the admission process by welcoming new patients, ensuring safety, completing intake tasks (including observed urine screens and breathalyzers), and orienting patients to program guidelines.
  • Follow all safety, medical, and infection control protocols, including handling sharps, conducting searches, observing drug screens, and administering heat treatments.
  • Monitor and maintain patient safety by conducting room checks, observing safety checks as assigned, and searching patients and belongings for contraband.
  • Search patients and belongings diligently for contraband, managing valuables with respect and documenting according to the procedure.
  • Support AMA prevention and early intervention by monitoring for risk indicators, engaging patients in supportive conversations, and promptly communicating concerns to the treatment team.
  • Ensure timely, accurate EHR and facility documentation, including shift reports, critical incident reports, maintenance requests, and patient care observations, in alignment with policy and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with teammates and the treatment team to identify recovery barriers, support aftercare planning, and coordinate referrals or community linkages when needed.
  • Provide patient transportation or accompany patients to community activities as needed, following established safety guidelines and policies.
  • Organize and facilitate store runs for or with patients in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring safety and adherence to procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe physical environment by performing recovery home and bedroom inspections, practicing universal precautions, and reporting or addressing facility concerns.
  • Maintain readiness to respond to crises and emergencies, demonstrating de-escalation skills, and adhering to safety and incident reporting protocols.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications in CPR & Basic First Aid, MANDT, and overdose response including Narcan administration
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing education to ensure best-practice service delivery and continuous development.
  • Perform all duties in alignment with CARF standards to support continuous accreditation readiness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
