The Patient Navigation Nurse is responsible for being a clinical resource over the phone to people calling from the community who have questions while seeking care, in addition to questions related to COVID-19. The nurse assists in navigating community individuals who call through appropriate channels to offer exceptional service. In regards to COVID-19, the nurse screens patients who do not have an order from their PCP to see if they meet the testing criteria, answer clinical questions (within their scope), and provide education and instruction on what to do after an exposure or when symptoms have occurred. The nurse is also responsible for calling patients with their negative COVID-19 test results if they were tested under Conway Regional's drive thru provider and will rescreen these patients and instruct them on when they can come out from quarantine. The Patient Navigation Nurse serves as customer service for physician offices, patients, and community members. The Patient Navigation Nurse completes prior authorizations for imaging studies. The Patient Navigation Nurse schedules imaging studies requested via the EMR.
