The Host Clerks are responsible for a variety of patient and non-patient tasks in the call center, tray line, nursing unit, and kitchen as assigned. These tasks include checking and verifying all beverages, hot foods, cold foods and condiments on the patient tray and loading the tray into the delivery cart. They communicate with Production staff concerning any issues with food items being served for Room Service, read and correct patient menus based on their prescribed diet, and tally items on the menus while communicating needs to the production staff in a timely manner. The role also involves placing items on patient trays, coordinating delivery with the hostess staff, answering phone calls, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. For Patient Serving Host Clerks, responsibilities include assisting patients with ordering meals, visiting new admissions to explain the room service program, and delivering patient trays to the units. They must read and interpret diet orders and allergy information, verify meal delivery to the correct patient, and communicate needs to the call center. The host clerk will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, push, and lift items of various weights from 5 to 50 pounds, and must demonstrate customer service skills and organizational abilities.
