About The Position

The Patient Materials Transporter plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe transport of patients and materials within White Plains Hospital. The transporter is responsible for understanding and following hospital policies while performing their duties efficiently and with attention to detail.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful completion of departmental orientation
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to push/pull/lift heavy objects over 50 lbs with assistance
• Ability to perform difficult manipulative tasks and maintain arm-hand steadiness
• Ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruptions for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Receive errands, transport or round assignments from the Dispatcher or designee.
• Identify themselves to staff and patients upon arrival at departments.
• Inform patients of their transport destination and deliver them accordingly.
• Make hourly material rounds to all departments for delivery and pick up of items.
• Adhere to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
• Organize and care for equipment used in transport tasks.
• Integrate safety, patient rights, and infection control methods into work practices.
• Utilize appropriate decision-making steps related to transport and departmental issues.
• Participate in Performance Improvement Initiatives and attend mandatory inservices.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Complete competency requirements and perform other related duties as assigned.
