Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations required.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in business continuity, emergency preparedness, or a related role preferred.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in a hospital command center, healthcare call center, or related field preferred.
  • Must be currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Strategic insight: The ability to be strategic in bringing ideas to the leadership table.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen of the hospital industry, service lines, and PLC & MT operations.
  • Managing multiple tasks/responsibilities: Managing and achieving a multitude of objectives simultaneously in an effective manner to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the AVP of Infrastructure, leads the development and execution of operational initiatives to improve business continuity and emergency responses for the PLC & Medical Transport teams.
  • Supports onboarding and ongoing skill development of transfer center leaders, including site visits as needed.
  • Supports alignment with key service lines, business areas, departments, and programs to support HCA and NTC and to increase collaboration for growth across HCA.
  • Develops and delivers department specific training, education materials, and exercises to promote field leader ongoing development and operational excellence.
  • Travels frequently to regional locations to support the adoption and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Leads projects to improve the quality and availability of tools and resources supporting PLC & MT operations.
  • Partners with other corporate/field service-line leaders as needed to maintain alignment on specific initiatives and/or general strategic direction.
  • Presents or participates in meetings when needed or as substitute for AVP of Infrastructure, audience may include both field and corporate leadership.
  • Serves as the department subject matter expert in business continuity planning, risk evaluation, emergency response coordination, and contingency planning.
  • Ensures departmental business continuity plans align with operational need, enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates with Enterprise Preparedness and Emergency Operations and Business Continuity teams to ensure departmental alignment with HCA Healthcare's broader preparedness initiatives.
  • Provides clinical expertise regarding essential department functions during an emergency event, and assists with the development of policies to maintain safe clinical operations.
  • Oversees departmental use of business continuity technologies, and maintains standard operating procedures to ensure effective communication and redundancies across teams.
  • Serves as key clinical team member for Enterprise Emergency Operations Council activations and hospital evacuation efforts, including night and weekend support during emergency events.
  • Represents the PLC on Clinical Downtime Program efforts to ensure seamless coordination between PLCs and HCA hospitals during a significant downtime event.
