About The Position
The Patient Translator is responsible for precisely and accurately interpreting critical medical advice and information given by healthcare providers into equivalent terminology in the patient's native language. This role involves assisting in translating medical text from English to the native language or vice versa on behalf of internal and external customers, including translating patient education information as specifically requested. The Patient Translator establishes and maintains quality service and positive interactions with all patients, customers, visitors, healthcare providers, and clinical employees. Additionally, the role includes assisting with patient follow-up, which may involve contacting patients with appointment reminders, scheduling appointments, and communicating lab/test results with guidance from a medical provider. Maintaining strict patient confidentiality in accordance with OU policies and standards is essential. The position also requires participation in continuing annual medical interpreter/translator training and may involve providing occasional services outside of normal working hours as needed. Miscellaneous job-related duties may also be assigned to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
