Collaborating with the Clinical Administrative Supervisors (CAS) and Director of Nursing (DON), the Patient Flow Coordinator (PFC) performs duties to assist with the information needed to improve patient flow in real time by communicating directly with areas providing services. The PFC will work under the direction of the CAS to improve patient flow through internal and external transfers and admits. An Integral component consists of strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration with other health care facilities, support services, physicians, patients, and patient’s families. Technical tasks involve utilizing computer skills efficiently on an ongoing basis. The PFC performs clerical duties including data collection and input for patient transfers and admits. Financial performance measures include review of patient charts for completion to ensure accurate and timely processing of information. The PFC uses capacity management systems and protocols to support through put, including: Assigning patients rooms, monitoring room availability and turnover, and maintains electronic bed board. The PFC also serves as a resource for staff and management. Assist with coordination of units staffing and utilization.
