SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the RCM Manager, the Patient Financial Services Specialist performs collections functions for unpaid and/or delinquent patient account balances, initiates appropriate action, maintains records, answers inbound patient telephone inquiries, reviews and processes refunds and other clerical tasks. IN THIS ROLE, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL: Managing and documenting assigned patient accounts, including outbound collection calls Responding to inbound patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy Resolving patient disputes related to outstanding balances Delivering excellent and considerate communication to patients Collaborating effectively with internal departments regarding patient accounts Meeting departmental goals and activity metrics Processing account adjustments, credits, and refunds in accordance with company policies Monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts Reviewing financial hardship requests Forwarding insurance information to RCM departments for updates Handling bankruptcy notifications and records requests Providing backup coverage for the reception desk during PTO, breaks, and lunches Demonstrating a basic understanding of insurance benefits Collecting on outstanding account balances Performing other related duties and completing assigned projects SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
