About The Position

The Patient Financial Services (PFS) Representative is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of billing claims. Also responsible for the timely follow-up of unpaid inpatient, outpatient and clinic claims. Provides appropriate medical documentation to the insurance carrier and pulls primary Explanation of Benefits for secondary insurance carrier billing.

Requirements

Experience with managed care contracts.
Ability to calmly deal with stressful situations.
Basic mathematical skills.
Computer data entry experience and 10 key/calculator.
Excellent customer services skills.
Good reading and writing skills.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Familiar with all requirements and attachments for insurance payers within assigned workloads.
Works insurance denials daily.
Electronically bills ALL new charges daily.
Works unpaid insurance pending accounts that are 90 days and older starting with largest unpaid balances working down to the smaller, less financially impacting accounts.
Changes financial class immediately to secondary insurance or self-pay when it is determined that the primary insurance has paid their portion in full.
