About The Position
The Patient Financial Services Representative position is a provisional role within the Health Department located at 608 William Street, Buffalo. This position is classified under the clerical and administrative support category and operates on a standard shift from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The salary range for this role is between $45,269 and $54,687 annually. It is important to note that this position is a competitive civil service title, which means that candidates will be required to take a civil service examination in the future. Following the examination, selections for permanent appointments will be made from candidates who are reachable on the eligible list, in accordance with the New York State Civil Service Rule of Three. To qualify for this position, candidates must have graduated from high school or possess a high school equivalency diploma. Additionally, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: one year of hospital or healthcare billing experience; two years of medical office or patient access experience, which must include health insurance verification, eligibility, and processing; possession of a Billing/Coding Certificate or a Medical Assistant or Medical Administrative Assistant certificate; or an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of the previous options. It is also noted that verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting the full-time experience requirement.
