About The Position

The Richland Hospital Inc. has a full-time, weekday position available for a Patient Financial Services Representative - Financial Counselor. The Patient Financial Services - Financial Counselor is responsible for advising patients of financial assistance options and assists our patients with benefit/billing questions both over the phone and in person. Assists with self-pay collections and moving accounts to Bad Debt as outline in hospital policy. Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post high school coursework in a related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and approach patients with respect and understanding.
• Ability to articulate payment expectations.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively follow-up on processes.
• Understanding and adherence to policies.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Financial Counseling experience in a healthcare setting.
• General knowledge of Commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Understanding of deductibles, coinsurances, and co-pays.
