About The Position

The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) serves as the first point of contact in greeting patients and guarantors in the hospital, ambulatory or medical office setting. The PFSR engages with the patient or guarantor to obtain pertinent information and answer any questions in an effort to ensure that all required demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information is gathered and verified. Ensures all required notices and consent forms are signed accordingly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
  • BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of related hospital, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and manage all relevant clinical data (intake forms, photographs, patient health history, labs, images, etc.) prior to consultations/surgeries or procedures.
  • Assist with obtaining authorizations, scheduling appointments and coordinate care between providers, where appropriate.
  • Connect patients to available services, such as primary care providers, specialists, and other community health resources.
  • Assist patients in coordinating care with other medical professionals.
  • Coordinate patient care plans, including scheduling appointments, following up with providers, and providing/obtaining referrals.
  • Help patients overcome obstacles that they may encounter while pursuing treatment.
  • Coordinate a wide range of activities and services to support the patient by utilizing various communication methods including telehealth, face-to-face, text, telephone, or e-mail.
  • Provide educational resources to patients on their medical condition, treatment plans and other health-related topics as directed by the clinical team.
  • Work closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care management teams.
  • Facilitate care coordination, and document efforts.
  • Extract data from medical record sources to gather information and perform outreach.
  • Communicate details to the appropriate team, providers, and/or supervisors.
