As a Financial Counselor, you will be responsible for reviewing the Financial Clearance Worklist daily and visiting in-house patients; collecting estimated patient liability amounts; explaining all financial information, responsibilities and working closely with outside agencies to ensure patient's financial coverage. You will follow AIDET guidelines in all interactions with the patient, demonstrate excellent customer service, and work in conjunction with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff to visit all uninsured patients in-house. Your role will include providing estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested, generating insurance verification and precertification reports daily, and following up with case management and insurance verification departments as appropriate. You will assist patients with payment arrangements and coordinate with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff to assist patients with financial applications. Additionally, you will contact patient employers for verification of employment and premium status, escalate any concerns to the Patient Access Manager/Supervisor, and enter pertinent insurance information into the HIS system (i.e. Meditech). Maintaining a professional image and implementing excellent customer service to customers is essential, as well as completing financial analysis and collecting estimated patient liabilities.
