About The Position

Applies only to Emergency Department and BOS Digital Registration. Responsible for completing varied duties to support the revenue cycle, compliance, and patient experience by accurately and efficiently completing tasks in areas of registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput, including onboarding and training team members. This incumbent will be responsible for meeting individual collection goals. Maintains a close working relationship with all members of the clinical team to ensure a seamless and positive experience for both patients and caregivers. This incumbent is considered essential staff and must be able to work as needed on weekends, holidays, and during disastrous events. This position may require deployment of legal, ethical and compliance related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration. Assist in supporting go lives and different departmental initiatives, including onboarding and training team members. Participate in departmental committees/champion opportunities. Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members. Estimated salary range for this position is $17.27 - $23.26/hr depending on experience.

Requirements

  • High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.
  • For internal staff: A minimum of 1 year Patient Access experience and has demonstrated the ability to independently perform all functions within the Level 1 job description.
  • Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and individual POS collection standards for at least the most recent 6 months.
  • Exceeds departmental KPIs.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
  • Identified as a team player and cross trained in multiple areas/product lines to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • For external staff: Associates Degree preferred with 1 year Patient Access experience, or 2 years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Minimum Required Experience: 1 Year

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, etc.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations and pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products, and EMR applications, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole.
