About The Position

The position involves validating patient identities to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, analyzing patient balances, and assisting with customer concerns in a healthcare call center environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Cert, GED, Trn, Exper).
  • 3 years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting, specifically in a call center environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, Revenue Codes, DRG guidelines, ICD9, CPT4, Modifiers & HCPC codes, HIPAA, and statutory regulations.
  • Experience with online verifications and familiarity with Avality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Vista Hipath Pro-Center Agile.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good math, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult callers in a high call volume setting.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

  • Validate patient's identity to comply with HIPAA Regulations.
  • Analyze patient balances and review services billed for accuracy.
  • Identify customer concerns and assist with resolution, including follow-up with other departments.
  • Answer all incoming calls through the Inter-active Voice Response System from patients and other customers.
  • Document all actions taken onto the SMS/Invision System.
  • Submit contractual adjustments on accounts as necessary based on Managed Care Contracts.
  • Utilize available system resources to resolve patient issues promptly.
  • Process, document, and work all incoming patient mail within a 7-10 day window.
