Requirements

  • Two (2) years of college or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
  • Experience in healthcare, finance, patient accounts, social services, or financial assistance programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with state health insurance programs.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consumers and patients with price estimates for potential or scheduled services.
  • Screen and enroll patients in applicable state and federal health insurance plans and assistance programs available such as Missouri Medicaid, Show Me Healthy Woman, etc.
  • Determine the level of patient liability by using appropriate systems, data, and clinical staff and physicians as necessary to advise patients on financial obligations to secure prepayment for care.
  • Interview and screen patients at the bedside and via phone for scheduled and unscheduled admissions which includes multiple facility support across the health system.
  • Inform patients of MU Health’s Financial Assistance program. Screen and approve the application as appropriate.
  • Maintain adequate and current knowledge of State of Missouri Medicaid programs and qualifiers.
  • Work closely with outside agencies and departments such as the State of Missouri Family Support Division, any partnered vendors, and all internal clinical departments.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
