Requirements
- Two (2) years of college or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
- Experience in healthcare, finance, patient accounts, social services, or financial assistance programs.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with state health insurance programs.
- Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Responsibilities
- Provide consumers and patients with price estimates for potential or scheduled services.
- Screen and enroll patients in applicable state and federal health insurance plans and assistance programs available such as Missouri Medicaid, Show Me Healthy Woman, etc.
- Determine the level of patient liability by using appropriate systems, data, and clinical staff and physicians as necessary to advise patients on financial obligations to secure prepayment for care.
- Interview and screen patients at the bedside and via phone for scheduled and unscheduled admissions which includes multiple facility support across the health system.
- Inform patients of MU Health’s Financial Assistance program. Screen and approve the application as appropriate.
- Maintain adequate and current knowledge of State of Missouri Medicaid programs and qualifiers.
- Work closely with outside agencies and departments such as the State of Missouri Family Support Division, any partnered vendors, and all internal clinical departments.
- May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
