About The Position

The Patient Financial Advocate I at Monument Health is responsible for managing the financial aspects of patient care within the Revenue Cycle Pre-Arrival process. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies required.
  • 1+ years of HealthCare Administration or Operations Experience preferred.
  • 1+ years Billing/Collections Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and complete workflows of Pre-Arrival patient financial management functions within Revenue Cycle.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of the Pre-Arrival patient financial management process per policy and guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients and families to identify financial, social, and medical requisites for financial management functions.
  • Gather relevant information for financial assistance requests and maintain accurate documentation of account transactions.
  • Collaborate with patients and internal/external customers to identify long-term funding resources for healthcare services.
  • Counsel patients on out-of-pocket liabilities including pre and post-service balances.
  • Create accurate cost of care price estimations and distribute them timely according to regulatory requirements.
  • Calculate and collect patient financial liability including preservice deposits and co-payments.
  • Establish appropriate payment arrangements and accept payments during patient visits.
  • Communicate financial clearance status and decisions with patients, families, and clinicians.
  • Ensure quality services in self-pay collections according to policies and guidelines.
  • Practice safe and secure cash handling per Monument Health policy.
  • Understand core business structures and best practices within the industry.
  • Communicate effectively regarding financial clearance processes and reimbursement activities.
  • Participate in educational and skillset opportunities for personal growth and development.
