UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full-time Patient & Family Concierge to support the Mother Baby Unit 3700/3800 is a 56-bed Mother Baby unit providing service and care to mother-baby couplets who are well, but additionally treating mothers with pre-eclampsia, newborns whose mothers are diagnosed with chorioamnionitis, high risk postpartum conditions such as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, and surgical patients who have undergone C-section, post-partum tubal ligation, and/or hysterectomy during childbirth. This is a fast-paced unit that provides staff with the extremely rewarding opportunity to impact and educate new families as well as work through adoption and surrogate scenarios. What can you Expect as a Patient & Family Concierge? The Patient & Family Concierge is responsible for providing generalized, compassionate service and support to staff members, patients, families, and visitors during their stay within the hospital. This role assists with all communications regarding the department, accurately updates and maintains patient flow process and coordinate patient tests and procedures. Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders, menus, and patient or guest specific requirements. Cleans, removes trash from, empties linen hampers, and organizes all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices, and patient-specific equipment. Replenishes supplies as needed. Orders unit specific supplies and equipment. Delivers supplies, equipment, medication and other materials to the patient units. You will maintain par levels for designated supplies and forms including down time folders, maintain accurate unit communication including, but not limited to, promptly answering telephones, activating the paging system, facilitating timely faxing, distributing patient and unit mail, greeting and assisting visitors, physicians, and other staff members. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR current high school/GED enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS diploma/GED.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • In the course of duties may be asked to distribute medications to the nurse at the bedside.
  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Additional certifications may be required for pediatric units

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Completion of a Certified Health Unit Secretary course preferred.
