Position Overview SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job) Transports patients safely and efficiently throughout facility. Participates in department performance improvement activities. Adapts willingly to changing departmental demands and effectively executes new and unexpected tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • None required.
  • AHA Heartsaver AED

Responsibilities

  • Verifies transport information from escort dispatcher to effectively plan route and keeps log of travel activities.
  • Transports patients as requested in a timely fashion.
  • Identifies patient by checking identity information and medical charts to ensure patient has been brought to correct area of hospital.
  • Communicates effectively to patient purpose and method of transfer using transfer equipment.
  • Utilizes proper transfer techniques to ensure patient safety following CH guidelines and procedures.
  • Transfers medication in tampered-proof bag when applicable.
  • Self-tests transport equipment to ensure safe handling and proper function.
  • Removes faulty or defective equipment from service.
  • Communicates and expediently notifies dispatching unit of any delays in transport, damaged equipment, or patient problems and concerns.
  • Identifies where and how escort function can be improved and makes recommendations for change.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
