About The Position
The position involves transporting patients within the VA Medical Center using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring their safety and timely arrival at their destinations. This includes transporting lab specimens, equipment, and patients' belongings, while consistently verifying patient identification to ensure accurate transportation. The role requires making an average of 30 trips per 8-hour shift, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Additionally, the escort is responsible for operating equipment safely, providing emergency assistance when needed, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Effective communication with medical staff and adherence to established policies and procedures are essential.
