This position is responsible to perform scheduled (preventative maintenance) and unscheduled work (repairs) on patient equipment such as beds, surgical tables, general use medical equipment and other mechanical and/or electro-mechanical devices. Biomedical Engineering follows a medical equipment management plan to meet compliance standards from JCAHO and the DPH in an effort to minimize any patient safety risks associated with medical devices. Work activity from this position will be measured regularly and results will be reported to the Environment of Care Committee. This position is responsible to review equipment alerts/recalls and will be part of a team to address the corrective action. Comprehensive and timely documentation of work history is important to meet compliance standards and is expected as a professional. In-service education and special projects are occasional activities that support the clinical staff and ensure the patient environment is safe. This position Reports to a Clinical Engineer or Regional Biomedical Engineering Management.
