About The Position

The Patient Engagement Pharmacy Technician is responsible for prescription order entry, insurance processing, and patient outreach to coordinate prescription fulfillment and delivery. The Patient Engagement Pharmacy Technician works in a large volume centralized specialty and mail order pharmacy call center setting under pharmacist supervision. This position plays a key role in pharmacy operations providing excellent service through high quality performance and care. The Patient Engagement Pharmacy Technician functions in a multi-skilled environment which requires the application of teamwork, leadership and flexibility. This position will require collaboration with the central pharmacy dispensing team to coordinate services and will have a high degree of interaction with patients and caregivers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy Technician registration must be completed with KY Board of Pharmacy by date of hire.
• Previous retail, mail order, central / call center pharmacy work experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescription order entry and adjudication for centralized specialty and home delivery prescriptions.
• Navigate dispensing software to process prescriptions efficiently.
• Coordinate delivery with patients and/or caregivers.
• Resolve insurance issues and communicate anticipated prescription delays to patients.
• Synchronize patient medication refills using available software tools.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with patients regarding medication fulfillment needs.
• Escalate clinical questions to the pharmacist.
• Provide excellent care showing empathy and compassion to patients and caregivers.
• Collaborate with onsite central pharmacy dispensing team to coordinate services.
• Ensure all assigned tasks are completed at the end of the shift.
• Assist in training new staff and contribute to team meetings.
