About The Position
The Patient Dining Associate plays a crucial role in providing food services to patients within assigned care units at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring that patients receive their meals in a timely and pleasant manner. The associate will take menu selections from patients prior to each meal, demonstrating a friendly and caring attitude while introducing the Catering to You Program. This role requires the delivery of trays, inquiring about patient needs during catering rounds, and retrieving trays after meals. It is essential for the associate to be responsive to patients' needs at all times, addressing any concerns or complaints immediately and reporting them to a supervisor when necessary. In addition to meal delivery, the Patient Dining Associate must comply with dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets, ensuring that food preferences align with the guidelines of diet orders. This includes interacting with Dietitians and Nutrition Technicians to guarantee accuracy and safety in food service. The associate will also offer alternative menu options as permitted by prescribed diets, taking into account food allergies, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences. Timely and accurate assembly of trays according to patient menu tickets is a critical function of this role. The associate will work closely with nursing personnel to ensure that patients' dietary prescriptions are accurate and that their food needs are met. After delivering trays, the associate will complete catering rounds to check if patients require anything further and will promptly retrieve trays from patients' rooms. Maintaining accurate and current information for each patient on assigned units is vital, as is communicating any patient-related issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Compliance with health and sanitation regulations is mandatory, and the associate must maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, utilizing cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines.
