About The Position

The Patient Counselor at the Eye Institute plays a vital role in guiding patients through their eye care journey. This position is responsible for educating patients about treatment options, surgical procedures, insurance coverage, and financial responsibilities. The counselor serves as a liaison between the patient, clinical team, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless and supportive experience.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on surgical and non-surgical treatment options, including LASIK, cataract surgery, glaucoma treatments, and other ophthalmic procedures
• Provide detailed information about insurance benefits, out-of-pocket costs, and financing options
• Coordinate with insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain prior authorizations
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and billing staff to ensure continuity of care
• Address patient concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating issues when necessary
• Participate in patient education seminars and outreach events as needed
