About The Position

St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Institute is looking to hire a full-time Patient Counselor to join our team at our Tarpon Springs location. This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate who is eager to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients in our growing practice. The Patient Counselor is responsible for reviewing and explaining benefits and forms, reviewing chart notes and calculating balances for patients, calling patients to review deductibles and any outstanding balance or copays, scheduling follow-up appointments, and collecting payments due prior to and/or on surgery day. This position requires proven organizational skills, top-level problem solving, outstanding customer service, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Requirements

• Medical office experience required
• Medical insurance knowledge highly preferred
• Insurance verification knowledge is preferred
• Ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail
• Ability to read and communicate effectively with patients, peers, supervisors, and team

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an office environment where a high level of customer service was required
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including a pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, tact, diplomacy, patience, and flexibility
