About The Position

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for submitting and maintaining regulatory documentation and medical documentation for the physician's office using the practice management software for the electronic medical record. This position works closely with the physicians in the department to ensure a correct and appropriate medical code is assigned to every procedure performed, in a timely manner. This position assists with internal coding and chart audits. This position assists in resolving issues that occur within the clinical office setting and ensure an efficient patient flow. This position provides exceptional medical care that meets each patient of the physicians practice physical, mental, and emotional needs. The position is credentialed in the operating rooms to assist the provider if there is a need. The Patient Coordinator provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for provider; maintains supplies, rooms, medications; performs and tracks tests and results; assists providers and nurses; performs chart documentation, review, and maintenance; performs front office duties when required and completes miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Maintains patient flow in the clinical areas.
  • Responds to patient needs quickly and efficiently while adhering to Company, physician, and/or health facility procedures and policies.
  • Respond to provider and staff needs quickly and efficiently while adhering to Company and/or health facility procedures and policies.
  • Coordinates communication between team members and attending physicians or clinical associates to ensure the appropriateness of care and outcome planning.
  • Ensure compliance with third party requirements through review of documentation and care coordination activities.
  • Provides quality health care services, maximize productivity, and optimize customer service.
  • Performs clinical duties to include the following: Performs Drug Screens, Audiograms, Pulmonary Function Tests, Respirator Fit Tests, office based medical testing to include urinalysis, strep screens, flu screens, etc., as ordered by the providers.
  • Correctly completes appropriate forms, requests and requisitions according to standard protocol and as per corporate client profiles.
  • Cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments and procedure supplies per OSHA standards.
  • Cleans exam rooms and equipment as per OSHA standards.
  • Provides coordination for health education and referrals to meet the immediate health care needs of patients.
  • Operates office medical equipment properly.
  • Maintains a healthy and safe environment for clinic associates and patients.
  • Ensures that providers and staff follow all company policies, procedures and standards to keep providers and staff in compliance with external regulatory authorities and ensure that clinical associate documentation meets internal standards.
  • Schedules various diagnostic and in-office surgical procedures using departmental information system.
