About The Position

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for various administrative tasks and patient support activities within St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute. This role primarily focuses on daily patient outreach, converting qualified cataract patients into scheduled surgeries, appointment follow-ups, and other necessary duties that are assigned. The Patient Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and healthcare regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle various responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, appointment scheduling software, and other office applications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing documentation, consent forms, other administrative duties.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and professionalism when dealing with patients in person, over the phone, or through written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily patient outreach to referred patients who have not scheduled an appointment.
  • Ensure accurate timely communication with patients through various channels, such as phone calls, emails, or text messages.
  • Daily outreach to patients who have completed their cataract evaluation and are qualified to move forward with surgery but have not scheduled surgery.
  • Daily outreach to patients who have cancelled or no showed their cataract surgery, goal is to reacquire/reschedule these patients at our practice.
  • Maintain surgeon clinic volumes, be able to analyze surgeons clinics week by week and optimize evaluation rescheduling to fill their schedules.
  • Prepare and review consent forms for surgeries and procedures with patients.
  • Explain the content and purpose of consent forms to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Ensure all necessary signatures and documentation are completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with rescheduling projects as necessary, considering patient and provider availability.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by your manager.
  • Adapt to changing needs and priorities within the practice, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.
