The Float Pool provides a unique experience for caregivers to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. As Patient Companion for the Float Pool, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts varying between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. Shifts can be 4, 8, or 12 hours, as long as caregivers meet a 48-hour minimum over a six-week period. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you will observe three to four patients. Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected. Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation. Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician. Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient. Initiate and perform CPR when necessary.
