About The Position

The Patient Clerical Assistant performs clerical and receptionist duties for the unit. Job duties affect patient care through the completion of tasks which permit others to provide direct patient care. Work requires communication outside of the work group and external contacts require providing or obtaining factual information. Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, community health care provider, governed by a community-based board of trustees. Since its founding in 1973, the original 59-bed, short-stay hospital has grown into a comprehensive acute care medical center with 226 licensed beds. We specialize in women's and children's services, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services and community health education. In June 1998, Howard County General Hospital joined Johns Hopkins Medicine. In June 2023, the hospital was renamed Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency required.
One (1) year demonstrated experience interacting with the public.
Strong interpersonal skills including sensitivity, maturity, and tact necessary to communicate effectively with patients, family members and co-workers, and the ability to work efficiently with episodic interruptions in work flow.
Ability to problem solve, anticipate needs and take initiative are required.
Ability to use a computer (Epic, SAP, Transquest, and HillRom), following clear instructions and procedures for looking up relevant data and sending and receiving emails.
Must be able to pass all hospital competencies required for the position.
