About The Position

Join Baystate Health as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on our Wesson 4 unit in Springfield, MA. Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients while supporting the overall operations of the unit. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous healthcare experience a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations
• Commitment to providing excellent, compassionate patient care

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate, compassionate bedside care — including hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring
• Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other patient data accurately and on time
• Assist nurses and physicians with treatments, procedures, and patient exams
• Perform and document Point of Care (POC) testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs as needed
• Support patient elimination needs and specimen collection per established procedures
• Maintain equipment, ensure patient safety, and respond promptly to emergencies
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members
• Participate as a valued member of a collaborative care team
