About The Position

Patient Care Technician - General Internal Medicine - 7p - 7a The General Internal Medicine unit is a 25-bed medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from 18 – 95. Four monitored beds are designated for melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma, cervical, ovarian, thoracic and pancreatic cancer patients receiving high-dose bolus interleukin-2 and/or targeted cellular therapy requiring cardiac monitoring. Primary populations treated include: melanoma, sarcoma and GI patients receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens and all solid tumor cancer patients receiving immune effector cell therapy. The Ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably one year of healthcare experience . They work well on a care team , assisting with patient activities, vital signs, and maintaining a safe environment while ensuring accurate patient information updates. Working Hours: The working hours for this role will be 7p-7a. It will be 3 days a week at 12hrs a day. At MD Anderson, we offer careers built on care, growth, and balance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify and address patient care needs
  • Assists with activities of daily living, patient mobilization, admissions/discharges, and obtaining vital signs
  • Updates and retrieves patient information accurately
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly patient environment
  • Functions as part of an assigned care team
  • Other duties as assigned.
