About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The position is located within the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) at the CHS - Oncology 7W (ART) Cost Center.

Requirements

• Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Patient Care Technician II: High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met:
• Associate or Bachelor's degree
• At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
• Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
