About The Position

CFKC is currently looking for a Per Diem Patient Care Technician (PCT) to be based out of our Orlando locations. Our PCT's work directly with our patients providing safe, effective care under the general direction of a registered nurse. This dynamic position requires open availability and has the possibility of traveling to other units depending on patient need. CLASSIFICATION/STATUS: Per Diem /NON-EXEMPT IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: NURSE MANAGER GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Responsible for dialysis treatments on the patients assigned under direction of the registered nurse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or general education degree (GED), or equivalency, required.
  • Experience in hemodialysis process required
  • Certificate of completion of a hemodialysis course required
  • Completion of BLS required.
  • Certification with NNCC, BONENT, or other current acceptable certification, as a dialysis patient care technician required upon hire; CCHT, CHT.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for dialysis treatments on the patients assigned under direction of the registered nurse.
  • After completing satisfactory training may set up machine and dialyzer, initiate, monitor, and terminate treatment and clean machines.
  • After completing satisfactory training, may be periodically assigned the responsibility of closing the unit, which includes shut down of the water system and Ozone if applicable, final review of dialysis machine shut down for the day, remaining on duty until the last patient has left CFKC property, and securing the building.
  • Responsible for maintaining policy and procedures of C.F.K.C.
  • Answers phone and takes messages.
  • Participates in patient education.
  • Maintains safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Observes and reports patients' needs and changes in the patients' condition promptly to the registered nurse.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with patients and their families.
  • Collaborates with health team members to interpret patient and family responses and initiates appropriate nursing measures.
  • Recognizes the psychological, social, and spiritual needs of the patient and their family and communicates this information to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of the patient care plans.
  • Participates in treatments and procedures as assigned.
  • Charts observations and pertinent information regarding patients.
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and order of the unit.
  • Obtains blood samples and other specimens as ordered.
  • May assist with emergency procedures, other than medications, in accordance with the physicians' standing orders and under the direction of a registered nurse.
  • Participation in CQI process.
  • Learns and follows HIPAA policy and procedures.
  • Assumes own responsibility for personal growth and continuing education.
  • Refers all physician orders, either by telephone or verbal, to the registered nurse.
  • Checks charts for any unprocessed orders, notifies registered nurse and follows through as indicated before returning to proper place.
  • Assists the physician as needed.
  • Participates in patient care conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
