Responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. Perform routine direct patient care activities following established policies and procedures in a manner conducive to the safety and comfort of the patient. Perform observations of patients and reports changes in patient condition to the registered nurse. Perform specific skills including phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT). Assist in all aspects of daily living activities for the patients, including, but not limited to general hygiene of the patient, changings, light housekeeping, and patient vitals. 4 South - Adult Progressive/Telemetry Unit: The Adult Progressive/Telemetry Unit is located on the fourth floor of the South Tower building. This is a 32-bed unit with capabilities for telemetry cardiac monitoring. The most frequent diagnoses for the medical patients are cardiovascular disorders and cardio-respiratory conditions. The surgical patients represent a variety of specialties including but not limited to general surgery and cardiovascular surgery. Cardiovascular intervention/procedural patients (post cardiac stent, cardiac device placement, etc.) are often placed on this unit. Medical and/or surgical patients requiring a more intensive level of care, as well as cardiac monitoring may be PCU level of care. Examples of the PCU level of care include but are not limited to vasoactive drug administration, invasive monitoring, advanced sepsis, and DKA.
