About The Position

Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs a variety of duties to assist the staff in delivery of patient care. The PCT spends a majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Provides general non-technical assistance to the nursing staff. Responsible for the general maintenance of equipment, room and supplies. Responsibilities Performs all responsibilities/duties required by surgical services, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the patients are addressed. Maintains the area, equipment, and level of supplies. Performs a variety of assisting and servicing activities, both with the patients and to help maintain the area. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of data collected. Works effectively as part of the healthcare team to facilitate the unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients in collaboration with licensed personnel. Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, staff, visitors, and others as part of the organization’s commitment to quality services. Maintains current knowledge/certification. Maintains supplies/inventory for department. Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Requirements

Minimum Education High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Licenses and Certifications BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association within 90 Days
Certified Patient Care Technician (APCT_ASPT) Upon Hire Preferred
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively (High proficiency)
Must show initiative, maturity, and effectiveness in dealing with people
Well-groomed in appearance
Appreciation of and desire to be part of a healthcare team
Must be able to return to the hospital/facility within 30 minutes of a Callback.
