About The Position

This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. Full time/part time positions available - all shifts. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in F9 ENT/Ortho Surgical Specialties Unit. F9 ENT/Ortho Surgical Specialties Unit 30-bed unit provides care to adult and adolescent patients with surgical conditions. Orthopedic procedures include digit and limb re-implantation, joint replacement, re-constructive surgery, the latest in internal and external fixation of fractures.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
Must have excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height.

Nice To Haves

Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
Patient care experience in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Obtains patient report and has on-going communication with R.N. regarding patient care/changes in condition; Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints.
Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
Carries out the Plan of Care for Patient using a Multidisciplinary Approach as Delegated by Team Leader.
Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care.
Accepts directions from R.N.s and team members.
Follows through on delegated patient care activities.
Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with activities (ambulation, up in chair, turn and reposition).
Documents all patient care activities/tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, I&O's accurately and timely and per unit and department standards.
Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems.
Serves as resources person to support department members in performance of duties.
Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention.
May perform other duties as assigned.
