About The Position

The Clinic Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital healthcare team member, providing essential support and performing tasks under the supervision of Registered Nurses and performing tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention. The PCT directly assists the nurse, PA, physician, and Ortho team with clinic procedures and tasks, surgery scheduling, and associated administrative and clinic duties. The PCT plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of patient care by providing assistance in various clinical settings. The PCT must possess the required competencies and adhere to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures, and standards, as well as guest care guidelines. This position will work 3 days a week.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Successful completion of patient care technician course within three(3) months of hire
Proficiency in providing basic patient care
Adherence to established patient safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring the safety of both patients and staff members
Effective communication skills as the PCT interacts with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
Accurate and timely documentation of all patient-related activities, including vital signs, intake/output, and medication administration
Strong organizational skills, including maintaining clean and organized work environments and accurately tracking patient supplies.
Collaboration with the healthcare team is essential, as the PCT supports and assists with patient care needs.
Physical stamina and the ability to work under pressure are essential qualities
Must be able to lift 50lbs. to waist height

Nice To Haves

Patient care experience in an acute care setting
Experience with casting/splinting
Experience with blood draws

Responsibilities

Collects and documents assessment data and provides patient education
Assist with patient physicals and lab draws
Responds to patient questions appropriately and address patient concerns.
Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments
Follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
Provide medical coverage for UAMS-contracted sporting and racing events
Assist with administrative duties, including insurance verification/authorization and surgery scheduling
