About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Nursing support in care of Phase 2 post anesthesia and observation patients. Medical-surgical patients who are recovered from anesthesia and who are anticipated to be discharged to home post-op day zero or post-op day one. Also cared for in Surgical Obs are preoperative medical-surgical patients who plan to have surgery with the next 24 hours.

Requirements

  • Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Patient Care Technician II: High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
  • Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
  • Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
