About The Position

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. The facility has been designed to support a superior patient and staff experience; excellence across our patient care, teaching, and research missions; convenient access to services; and engaging community partnerships. Changing Lives. ® The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire 90%25 Patient Care Technicians in the Emergency Department at the Medical Center North Liberty. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, the ED Patient Care Technician will perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions

  • At least six months of recent Emergency Room experience and/or EMT-B certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform EKGs throughout the Emergency Department as well as throughout the entire hospital.
  • Set up rooms for patient admission.
  • Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit.
  • Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair.
  • Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit.
  • Perform basic CPR as required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing.
  • Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients.
  • Turn, position, and ambulate patients.
  • Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure.
  • Enter daily patient record charting in computer.
  • Transport equipment, specimens and supplies.
